I am originally from Zanesville, Ohio, and relocated permanently to Florida in 1988.
After over 20 years in retail management with Sears, Roebuck and Company and Lazarus (Federated Department Stores), I launched my own bridal and wedding planning business, crafting custom wedding, prom, and pageant dresses. My journey into real estate began in 1986 when I became a licensed Real Estate Professional.
Leveraging my experience in planning significant life events, I realized I could guide people through one of the most important investment decisions of their lives: purchasing a home.
My love affair with Florida started at the age of five. The sunny days and warm Gulf breezes called to me, and I knew this was where I wanted to live, not just in retirement but while I was still young and healthy enough to enjoy it. This move brought me joy and fulfillment, allowing me to say with pride, “I live here.”
Raised in a single-parent household, I learned early on that hard work is essential for achieving one’s goals. To finance my education at Ohio University, I worked full-time at Sears, balancing a demanding schedule that extended my degree completion to five years. This perseverance paid off when I started my real estate career with Wilfred C. Baker/HER REALTORS, under the mentorship of “Willie” Baker, a trailblazing female broker.
On April 15, 1988, faced with 15 inches of snow and a car stuck in my driveway, I decided it was time for a change. I traded my Firebird for a Chrysler Le Baron, hitched a U-Haul trailer, and, along with my mom and Sheltie, Sasha, headed to Bradenton, Florida. Despite having no prior experience towing a trailer, I was determined to start fresh in a warmer climate.
Upon arrival, finding a place to live proved challenging as no real estate agents returned my calls. This experience inspired me to enter the local real estate market, where I quickly earned my Florida Real Estate Salesperson license and joined Smith, REALTORS on Anna Maria Island.
Although I knew no one and had no immediate network, I worked tirelessly to build my reputation. To support myself, I managed at Maas Brothers/Jordan Marsh in Sarasota and served at the Sandbar on Anna Maria Island, where I met many people and started to build my sphere of influence. Despite the challenges, I maximized every opportunity to network and promote my real estate services.
In 1994, I obtained my Florida Real Estate Broker License and joined RE/MAX Gulfstream in Bradenton. Seeking further growth, I added Property Management and Rentals to my services and moved to Wagner Realty in 1998.
Wagner Realty, the largest independent real estate company in Manatee County, provided the platform I needed to expand my reach. To manage my growing business, I formed The Greiner Group in 1993, assembling a team of professional buyer and seller agents, property managers, and administrative assistants. Today, we assist clients with buying, selling, renting, or property management throughout Manatee, Sarasota, and Charlotte counties. Through our affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LRE), we can even handle transactions nationwide and globally.
For my friends in Ohio dreaming of Florida sunshine, I can help you sell your home and find your dream home here. My personal slogan encapsulates my journey: “I wasn’t born in the South, but I got here as quick as I could.”
